Vaginal azoles (clotrimazole, etc) are first-line for vaginal candidiasis in pregnancy. But the hassle of using a vaginal product for a week may lead to requests for oral fluconazole instead.

Current labeling warns about birth defects with LONG-term use of HIGH-dose fluconazole... 400 to 800 mg/day.
