Researchers are warning about a SIGNIFICANT interaction between Buspar (buspirone) and erythromycin or itraconazole (Sporanox).

Combining Buspar with erythromycin or itraconazole can lead to extremely high Buspar levels...5 to 13 times the expected level. This can increase drowsiness or dizziness.

Erythromycin and itraconazole inhibit CYP3A4...one of the cytochrome P450 enzymes that metabolize Buspar and other drugs.
